Jim LovellAliveBorn: 3/25/1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, USAAge: 96 Full name: James Arthur Lovell Jr. Noted For: U.S. astronaut; flew on Gemini 7 (1965) and Gemini 12 (1966) as commander; as command module pilot of Apollo 8, was one of the first three humans to leave Earth orbit and travel to the moon (1968). Joined his crewmates Bill Anders and Frank Borman in a Bible reading from lunar orbit on 24 December 1968. Commanded the ill-fated Apollo 13 mission (1970). Quotation: "Houston, we've had a problem."
