Noted For: U.S. Attorney General under Obama (2009-15). Held in Contempt of Congress for refusing to hand over subpoenaed documents relating to Operation Fast and Furious (2012). Lost a U.S. Supreme Court case, Shelby County v. Holder, which struck down a section of the Voting Rights Act that required certain jurisdictions to obtain federal pre-clearance for redistricting (2013).
