Noted For: U.S. Army private first class in Avghanistan and Pakistan; deserted his post on 30 June 2009 and was captured by the Taliban; promoted in absentia to specialist (June 2010) and sergeant (June 2011); released in exchange for five Taliban prisoners of war on 13 March 2014. Pleaded guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy in a court-martial (2017); demoted to private, fined $10,000, and dishonorably discharged.
