NBA Rookie of the Year (1970); NBA Most Valuable Player (1971-72, 74, 76-77, 80); holds the NBA records for lifetime points scored (38,387), games played (1,560), and years played (20); elected to the basketball Hall of Fame (1995). Known as Lew Alicindor prior to his adoption of a Muslim name in 1971.
